Navigating Creativity and Resistance

Not a "how to" but a "this is what happened to me literally today and where I'm at right now" type of thing.

Letting myself be excited while expressing my ideas because the excitement is what is helping them to form. Another episode of Living in Response, an unedited and unfiltered, journey into saying what I want to say despite all the reasons not to.

Overview created by AI

In today’s episode, I take you through a raw, real-time download of a major creative realization. I’ve been sitting with the desire to create something—initially calling them "workshops"—but every time I tried to structure them in the traditional way, I hit a wall. The inner critic came in, telling me I couldn’t do it, that there was no audience, that I’d have to market it, and before I knew it, I was tangled in thought loops that led nowhere.

I realized I was approaching this the wrong way. My usual go-to strategies weren’t working, and instead of staying stuck in my head, I decided to move—literally. I went on an Ujjayi hike, a practice where I hike while using Ujjayi breathwork to regulate my energy and get out of my analytical mind. And within 10 minutes, clarity started dropping in.

One of the biggest insights? I’ve been trying to create these experiences through methods that don’t work for me—writing things down, making PowerPoint slides, structuring it step-by-step. But that’s not how I naturally create. Instead, I realized I could just speak them into existence. I could use voice recordings, let the ideas flow in real-time, and transcribe them later. This shift from writing to speaking opened up a whole new way of bringing my ideas to life.

I also saw how I was unintentionally boxing myself in with Human Design labels. Thoughts like, “I have to do this in a structured way because I’m a Quad Left” were actually limiting me. But Human Design isn’t meant to restrict—it’s meant to be an invitation. Once I let go of the mental rules, I felt free to create in my own way.

From this process, two new experiences (not workshops!) are taking form:

  1. Supporting Human Design Generators & Manifesting Generators – Redefining "waiting to respond" in an embodied way, outside of the rigid Human Design language that often leaves people feeling stuck.

  2. Somatic Values Exploration – Connecting with values not just intellectually, but through a fully embodied experience rooted in Logotherapy and nervous system awareness.

This episode is a celebration of breaking free from overthinking, letting creativity emerge in its own way, and shifting the focus from outcome to process. If you’ve ever felt stuck in your own creative endeavors, this might be the nudge you need to explore what truly works for you.

Key Takeaways:
🔹 Overthinking can block creativity—sometimes, the best move is to stop thinking and start moving.
🔹 Not all creative processes need to be structured—some ideas are meant to be spoken into existence.
🔹 Human Design should be a guide, not a box—if it's feeling restrictive, it might be time to zoom out.
🔹 Resistance isn’t a bad thing—it signals that something meaningful is waiting to emerge.
🔹 Values aren’t just intellectual concepts—they’re embodied experiences that shape our sense of meaning and motivation.
